Greens-led Senate report on firearms violence overwhelmingly rejected

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

9 April 2015

Taxpayers must be told how many of their dollars were spent on the Greens-led Senate Inquiry into gun-related violence in the community. Released last month after many delays, the 180-page report from the Inquiry, which was held over three different cities and took close to a year to research, has no major recommendations into assisting public safety.

Secure Storage

In line with the SSAA "Secure your gun, Secure your sport" promotions, SSAA QLD would like to remind members to ensure their safe meets the required standards.  Some reports have been received that some online retailers are supplying inferior safes which may have problems meeting storage requirements under QLD Legislation.

The QLD Police Service has released a brochure to assist in the storage of firearms and this can be viewed at https://www.police.qld.gov.au/programs/weaponsLicensing/licenceApplication/storage/Documents/FirearmSafeStorageBrochure.pdf
